Regatta Highlights: Regatta headquarters will be at Union Sailing Club on the South East side of Union Reservoir in Longmont, Colorado.  Union Sailing Club is dedicated to promoting small boat and youth sailing.   Union Reservoir is owned by the City of Longmont.   With a stunning view of Longs Peak and the Twin Peaks, this 750 acre no-wake lake is perfect for this early season family-friendly event.  In addition to the Regatta, other activities available for the family on the City side of the lake are swimming and paddle board rentals.

1.  Rules: 

This Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017- 2020.

2.  Eligibility and Entry: 

The event is open to monohull and multihull sailboats no more than 20 feet long, no more than 850 pounds displacement. Entrants must fill out a registration form and pay the appropriate fees. Four boats of the same one-design class will be scored as a fleet. Boats that do not form a one-design fleet will be grouped into one or more Portsmouth handicap Fleets. Anticipated one-design fleets include:  Finn, Laser, MC Scow, Mutineer, Optimist, and Snipe.

3.  Fees and Registration: 
Regatta Entry Fees: $60/boat. Early Online Registrants will receive a $10 discount and US Sailing Members will receive an additional $5 discount. Click here for (Online Pre-registration), be sure to register by June 2nd to receive the $10 discount.

Entry fee includes: BBQ at USC after racing on Saturday and snacks before awards on Sunday.

4.  Schedule of Events:
Saturday, June 8:

8:00 to 9:00 Registration at Union Sailing Club (South East Side of Lake)
10:00 Competitor’s meeting at Union Sailing Club, including an announcement of fleets/starts.
11:00 Warning signal for the first race (no race will be started after 17:00).
18:00 (or approx 45 min after last race
) shoreside BBQ on the USC picnic barge

Please note: Union Park has a no alcohol policy.

Sunday, June 10:
10:00 Warning signal for the first race (no race will be started after 15:00)

16:00 (or approximately 45 min after the last race) snacks and Awards at the Union Sailing Club

5.  Sailing Instructions: 
Sailing instructions, available at registration, take precedence over this NOR if there are differences.

6.  Regatta Site:

· The regatta site will be at Union Sailing Club on the South Eastern Shore of Union Reservoir, Longmont, Colorado. Vehicle/Trailer launching is available at the public concrete launch ramp at the Union Reservoir Park main site, on the South end of the lake, a short drive from USC (see attached map).  Launching at USC is by dolly only, no vehicles are allowed on the gravel launch ramps.

· Any boats being brought on site must report to the Union Reservoir Park main gate to be inspected for Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) by the Park staff prior to launching. This applies to all boats, even those launched at the USC dolly-only ramps.

7.  Racing Area and Courses: 
Racing area and courses will be as shown on the Union Sailing Club Race Course Chart, and as described in the Sailing Instructions, available at registration.

8.  Scoring: 

The scoring system will be the Low Point Scoring System found in Appendix A of the RSS. One race is required to be completed to constitute a Regatta. When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race score. When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. Results of the regatta will also be included in the scoring for the Sailing Association of Intermountain Lakes Dinghy Championship Tour.  Portsmouth Fleets will be scored using the most recent Portsmouth Yardstick D-PN wind average available through US Sailing.


9.  Trophies: 
Fleets with four or more pre-registered boats by June 2nd will be awarded first, second, and third-place trophies. There will also be awards to the “overall regatta winner” and “first place Junior”.

10.  Disclaimer of Liability: 
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race. Union Sailing Club, Union Reservoir Park, and the City of Longmont will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
